This photo belongs to Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds-Rare Seeds. This package was gifted to us from a customer who we have become extremely fond of and trade seeds with.

The Japanese Imperial Mix will be a new mix to our gardens. This photo is one of several variations displayed in the advertisement. The following information is provided by Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds about this seed. We claim no rights to this description or photo. This seed was openly pollinated in their gardens.

Description of this plant from Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds:

"Invite this antique Japanese morning glory mix into your garden, and your landscape will be enveloped in extraordinary and intriguing blooms in a range of colors and forms. The Edo period in Japan saw a craze for collecting and breeding unusual morning glories with unique colors and forms. This mix is a living collection of some of the best Japanese varieties from the history with truly dazzling and glitzy blooms!"

There was not a lot of other information given so we are excited to see what grows.

Seeds to be germinated:

Two days later, just like all seeds that were produced in the Northern Zones, we have germination! Placed in a wet paper towel, untouched and not nicked or scratched, Morning Glory seeds germinate very quickly. If you drop them in water, our experience has been they usually do not survive the germination process. Seeds produced in the Northern zones germinate much differently than those produced in the warmer climates.

Day two we drop them into a wet peat based potting soil and put them under the lights for the next month and a half.

April 16th:

In their new pot, all six seeds have risen! I think I see a Kikyo in there! Cant wait to see what these are!
